Psychological Care and Consultation                           Through Telehealth

ABOUT
Welcome:

Thank you for exploring the website for my clinical practice. If you are looking for psychological services, I very much encourage you to continue doing so, whether you contact me or someone else.

I have been a clinical psychologist for more than 30 years.  Over those years, I have provided psychological and neuropsychological care to people with many different backgrounds and experiences. Following education and training in clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology, my early career was spent as a psychologist doing work in the U.S. and abroad in international human rights, focusing particularly on how these rights apply to people with disabilities.

I have held academic appointments in university psychology programs, a school of medicine, and schools of public health. I was formerly the Director of a brain injury clinic in an academic medical center, and have been a supervising clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist in a number of medical settings. I have published more than 50 articles and book chapters on issues relating to psychology and human rights, the implications of neurodiverse conditions for psychological care, neuropsychological assessment, and methods for promoting self-awareness and self-regulation.

With initial support from a Contemplative Practice Fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies, I spent many years studying approaches for gaining awareness and self-regulation, including meditation methods, but other methods too.  I have been particularly interested in developing approaches for making self-awareness and self-regulation more accessible.

Some of my current clinical care involves providing consultation to parents of children with neurodivergent conditions such as ADHD, Autism, neurological illness, or Learning Disability. This consultation may involve guidance regarding the nature of the condition, parent stress reduction, or options during or following K-12 education. Rather than emphasizing behavior change methods alone, I work with parents to determine how parenting relationships with children can be fostered, particularly when those relationships become frayed, and how change can emerge from improved understanding.

I also see couples seeking improvement in their relationship. I have often worked with couples where one or both of the partners have ADHD, are on the spectrum, or are neuro-atypical in other ways.

Because so many people have jobs or academic pursuits that have become fraught, I frequently work with those who are experiencing or recovering from severe occupational or educational stress.

While I have done many neuropsychological evaluations over the years, my focus at this point in my career is proving psychological care through psychotherapy and consultation which I provide via telehealth to patients in Minnesota or Michigan.

If you believe you may benefit from my care, please look at the rest of my website. I am currently contracted with a practice group that does my scheduling and billing for patients in Minnesota. The contact for that practice group can be found on the right side of this page.
